The End Of Shake n Bake

We have made it through all our shake n bake and we are not sending for any more, fingers crossed we move home soon so Peter doesnt go through withdrawal.

Lucas has been spending lots of time outside, as much as possible with the weather, he loves to play on the deck, picking up leaves and throwing them over the edge. Pretty cute little guy in his kiwifruit touque (Peter and I think it looks more like an acorn but whatever)

Showing off his Dr. Poopsie tougue from Lorna - can't believe it still fits him, the label says 3-6 months, I will never understand child clothing lables it really is just guess and go.

We spent some time in the mall the other day since it was raining and I melt in the rain so we had to go inside for a while. Lots of time in Kathmandu playing in the tents. He is trying them on for size for our move back to Canada. This one is too small I think, maybe ok as a tent just for Lucas but Mom and Dad need to sleep in it too. Sorry Lucas I think we will wait until we are in Canada to buy one.

Lucas loves to colour and enjoys sitting at his table. He just learned to get on his chair all by himself, great news for mommy means I don't have to drop everything all the time to sit him up on the chair. But bad news for Lucas has meant a few bumps on his head as he misjudges it often and falls off the other side, good thing he has a hard head.

Busy Day at the Office

Lucas is very quickly building up his vocabulary, he has lots of sounds (especially animal sounds - snake is my favourite right now, buzz is pretty good too) here is a list of some of his favourite words, they go pretty much in order of the amount of times I hear them in a day
  • No
  • Mom
  • Go
  • Door
  • Car
  • Mad (Aunt Elissa gave him a book "I Was So Mad" and he loves to repeat that word)
  • Boo
  • Bye
  • Hi
  • Yeah
  • Nana

A few we are working on

  • Lucas "ts"
  • Banana "B"
  • Bath "Ba"
  • Nose "No"
  • Pants "P"
  • Cracker "CuCu"
  • Dad still "G"
  • Water "G"
  • Socks "G"
  • Shoes "G"
  • Drink "G"
  • Lights "G"
  • Do you see a patern here?

Lucas got all dressed up for church on Sunday in a vest from Uncle Sean. Unfortunately Church did not go so well, Lucas was not a happy camper.

After looking at these photos, taken after church, he had a lot of work to do so couldn't concentrate at church and needed to get home to take care of business. Little man taking after his "G" already - future accountant

Bumps, Bruises and Tears

Little Lucas has been walking everywhere but he thinks he can go faster than he can, which means a lot of falling. The poor kid just can't get it through his head that he needs to learn to walk before he can run.

We have had a lot of rain lately which means trying to find things inside to do - Lucas gets a little antcy when he can't go outside so I am thinking making more use of the rain coat and maybe investing in some gumboots so he can actually take advantage of being out in the rain, not sure I want to be out in the rain though. We have been spending some time in the library, Lucas loves the beads on the wire toy there. He insists on sitting on the seats and using the table.

Elissa and Sean came over to visit with Lucas. Elissa is Lucas's best friend, he gets so excited to see her and shows her everything he has, new or old. He loves playing with her hair and having her read stories to him. The other weekend Elissa took Lucas to Kelly Tarlton's to see the fish - sounded like he had a great time. He made sure to let Elissa know what a penquin says - he made it up himself so only he knows.

Lucas has started to take after me, he hates getting out of bed!!!

Peter had a new injury in hockey the other night, his chin split open again, so he has a nice new scar to add to his collection.

We are still working on selling the house and have signed on with a new agent, hoping for some better luck this time, fingers crossed. It is unfortunate that we bought in the top of the market and are now selling in the bottom.

I Said "NO"!!!!!!!

Someone has a favourite word and unfortunately it is "NO" it can be said very politelysometimes but often in disgust at me or at other children - great!!! I have read that most toddlers favourite word is no and that if ignored it should go away. We will see how long I can ignore it before it becomes more of an issue that has to be fixed.

This blog is brought to you by the letter B

Other words he enjoys are bus which is really just B but he is always pointing at a bus so I figure he knows what he is talking about, Papa will have to take him for a ride when we are home. Ball is also a favourite. At eating time he loves to tell you he is wearing a bib and if there are any other bibs in his view he will point those out to you as well, he just likes to keep us informed.

So yesterday he took 4 steps and today he took 2 on his own.

That being said he has walked about a million steps today behind his car. He walks everywhere (always with the car)! Crawling is for suckers at the moment. Walking behind his car on his own is not good enough though he has to take his dog for a ride in his car as well. The dog is not very well secured so he often falls off. Lucas always stops to pick him up and sit him back on top again, he makes a very good protector. He gets very annoyed when I tell him that the car is not allowed in the bathroom. "Lucas it doesn't matter how many times you say please (Which is really just putting his lips together and blowing at the moment) it is still not allowed in the bathroom". So at bathtime tonight when I would not let the car into the bathroom (if I had I am sure he would have insisted he have it in the bath with him) we had a major meltdown so I said "lets park your car in a special place". Lucas thought that was a great idea and off he went to find the "perfect parking spot" once that was done bathtime could continue.

I finally had enough of the whining so Lucas has been on a very strict discipline program for a week now. He is like a different kid. He has learned to play on his own and actually pulls out new toys and has come up with his own ways of playing which was unheard of until now. He is gaining confidence everyday and has actually left my side when we are out with other children. A huge step in the right direction.

"Are you proud of me Uncle Kyle?"

New Shoes and Learning Time

Lucas has had some crazy days I believe his molars are coming in makes for a grumpy little mister!!! We have had a couple days of serious crying but we seem to be over the worst or taking a break. Luckily it has been through the day rather than the night so so far we have not had a sleepless night, fingers crossed it keeps up!!!!

We got a box in the mail with some goodies and Lucas helped me unpack it and then thought it would be great to play in the box, not really the best box to play in though so it didnt last very long.

Lucas has been enjoying his new table, he loves to colour and just sit in his chairs. He also enjoys taking the chairs and running around behind them, that ended in a bit of a spill yesterday but he recovered eventually.

He has learned to say cheese for the camera as well which means we have a few "cheesy" pictures of him.

New shoes to try and encourage walking he likes them so much that he spends most of his time playing with them rather than trying to walk in them, we will get there one day.

First Birthday Madness

Lucas has been busy the last couple of weeks. He is standing often on his own but is not yet taking steps.

He is anxious to get into the bath and has a hard time waiting until we are ready for him.

Last night we went to watch Peter play hockey. I thought it would be a bit of a challange but Lucas loved it, he sat and watched for almost the entire first 2 periods. Than we had a bit of a crawl up and down the stands and of course a lot of snacks. Peter did pretty good and they finally won so what more can you ask for 5 - 4. Lucas must have been a lucky charm.

Happy Easter to Lucas. Loving his card from Nana and Papa.

We had a birthday party for the kids from coffee group today. It was a good time, all of us in the park with a bubble machine and the whole bit. Lucas had a good time playing on the slide and crawling around with his friends. He even tried out playing soccer for a bit, more standing and watching than playing but he had lots of fun. We made a canvas with all the babies foot prints on it, very cute. We also exchanged gifts, kind of like a secret santa - lucas didn't quite get what to do but he sat and looked cute for the photo which is always a winner for the pumperotzi
Lucas playing with two of his friends - yes Lucas those are buttons but you probably shouldn't poke girls in the chest, that is a lesson for another day though
Playing with Daddy - good times
